Owners Eric Kottke and Julie Lunn are the leaders of Constructive Builders. Our small but mighty team provides a high level of service without layers of management, allowing us to provide personalized service and stay competitive in our pricing while offering way more than your average "Dan and his truck" could ever offer.
Our personal passions include quality craftsmanship, warm but modern design, thoughtful renovations to waste as little as possible, and delighted clients. Outside of work we are outdoor lovers who routinely feel awe-struck at Colorado's beauty and practice a work hard - play hard mentality.
Whether or not you care about green building, we do. That means that we recycle or re-use materials whenever we can; we advocate for better efficiency materials; we provide thoughtful expertise before advocating for huge additions, and we prefer to build things that will stick around long-term vs. short-term solutions that might show up in a landfill far too soon.
We offer free ballpark estimates after a short call, and frequently work with our customers to align wish lists and budgets.

20 Years of Hands-On Experience
Constructive Builders was born from a vision to complete building projects in a more positive way. Eric Kottke founded the company to serve clients who share his appreciation for positivity, quality craftsmanship, great value and green practices.
More than just a project manager or a general contractor, Eric has 20 years of hands-on experience in all phases of construction, from foundation work to finish carpentry. His greatest satisfaction comes from seeing custom details come to life in an awesome finished product.
Eric began his career on a framing crew in Minneapolis. He then moved to Boulder, Colo. in 2001 and framed multi-unit apartments until he was hired for an apprenticeship under a veteran custom homebuilder working in the Colorado foothills. It was here that he worked for five years learning every phase of construction, eventually moving on to build his own custom 4,000+ square foot homes for clients. Eric returned to the Twin Cities with his family in 2010, eager to build a company on his home turf, focusing on customer satisfaction and projects both small and extensive. After 11 years of amazing projects in Minneapolis, the mountains called again and Eric relocated back to Colorado to continue the Constructive Builders mission just with a steeper backdrop.
In his free time, Eric enjoys hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and hanging out with his wife, two kids and his Aussie dog.

JULIE
Organizer/REALTOR/Design Adviser
Julie loves homes, design and the puzzle of both house-hunting and home improvement. She’s also the most organized communicator on our team, so she’s often the first person you’ll interact with when you start a new project.
On the practical side, she keeps clients updated as to the billing status and how each project is tracking to budget. She pays our awesome subs right away and ensures compliance for insurance and lien waivers. And when clients are in a “Love it or List it” moment, she provides sound advice on costs, the pros and cons of living through a remodel and the options for return on investment.
Julie collaborates with professional designers or shares ideas with clients on design details, and she enjoys the thrill of seeing the beauty of the finished project.
Julie has an MBA from the University of Colorado and a BA in Journalism from the University of Minnesota. She’s a licensed realtor with the Arrow Group at West + Main Home based out of Lakewood, Colorado.
Her dad is retired from his third-generation construction company in central Minnesota, so building is definitely a part of her heritage. Beyond work, Julie is a busy mom of two who practices at yoga, patience and cooking whenever possible.
